You can tell a lot about who an entrenched power fears by who they pass laws against. On the one hand it's racist to oppose islam, but not racist to single out the white race and those promoting it's well being, as terrorists.
Making terrorism illegal is sufficient. Declaring white nationalism as a terror threat is a step towards genocide, and the very nature of the declaration is to enforce a prohibition of that group advocating for its rights. This declaration is unprecedented in American history. It has in effect, declared war on any American citizen who would advocate for white rights.
This happened under Trump's watch, not Obama's.
