Community Update On Product Progress

@robcolbert and I spent a few hours finalizing Gab Chat on Friday. We will be finally shipping it into beta this week and refining it as we go from there. It’s built on HYDRA so it will be fast and scale well.

Basic overview of Gab Chat
-Public chats: chatrooms that anyone can join.
-Private chats: only people who are invited to the chat can join. All text is encrypted in private chats.
-Trend Chats: public chatrooms built around Top News from Trends.
-You must be logged in to view any chats.
-You can login using your Gab account just like on Trends/Dissenter.

Dissenter Shop
We built our own custom storefront system from scratch to sell merchandise like hats, shirts, stickers, etc. We had no choice but to build our own after being banned from Shopify, Gumroad, and other third-party providers. Merchandise is a big part of our business so this was an important project. We expect this to go live this week as well.

Gab Social HYDRA port
-The past few weeks we’ve been laying the groundwork for the port to HYDRA by building out our hardware stack. I won’t bore you with the details, but essentially we have been building out servers in preparation for the transition. The HYDRA port will solve a lot of these performance bugs like editing/deleting lag, etc. We are also going to be spending some more time refining the Groups feature to make it better.

Thank you all for your patience. So much of our time this year has been invested in building basic infrastructure because of no-platforming, but now we are stronger than ever because we can’t be no-platformed from our own tools. This quarter we had to build our own email mass mailing solution, storefront/e-commerce system, custom payment processing solution, business dashboard solution, and much more. All of this took a lot of time, but these things are absolutely crucial to make Gab work. Thank you all for your continued support.
