One was called Dinosaur Flats. A couple in Texas found lots of dinosaur tracks and fossils on their property. We went to Dinosaur Flats as part of a road trip vacation and were disappointed to see the state had bought the place and covered a lot of it up. They left the big tracks though and I found what I really wanted to see, “A Footprint In Time” which is a human footprint inside a dinosaur footprint. When I asked what happened to the previous owners I was told the husband died but Helen Thayer, the wife was living next door. We visited with her in her home and she showed us many artifacts that were so perfectly preserved they looked like they were instantly fossilized. One was a chunk of flesh with the skin, silver skin and flesh preserved in perfect detail. BTW, when I was cleaning the debris out of the “Footprint In Time” there was a hole in the ground rock and about four feet in was a clam that was three or four feet across. Amazing place.
