A little known fact.. it’s said that Noah Webster was motivated to create his dictionary (which would go on to become the Merriam-Webster standard) because he felt certain powers would change the constitution, ‘not by altering the text itself, but by changing the meaning of words.’ Impressive foresight, with regard to how incremental manipulative/deceitful cultural change actually transpires, in real world conditions.
