I can't get over that nice looking car those thieves were driving. I remember the farmers in French Camp having problems with metal thieves steeling their water sprinklers. Then one day I pull up to a farm house and the thief was busted. Turns out she took her 4 year old son with her, sweetest little guy. The Sheriffs gave him a teddy bear and that little boy spilled the beans on how Mom drove around during the day picking up sprinklers from lots of places. Then there was a time when a family, Dad worked while Mom stayed at home with the kids, they left for a few days for a vacation, when they returned someone had stripped all the metal siding from their mobile home trailer. Of course Stockton had a big problem with metal thieves ripping off copper wiring from houses under construction. And steeling the copper wire from light poles. Mind you it's been 20 years since I left California.
