Israel sunk so far into sin becoming like the nations around her, God had no choice but to take them to the woodshed. Notice the name "Jacob" often used when Jacob was in the "flesh" but his new name given to him by God was "Israel" & is used when he walked in the Spirit of God. So here "Israel" is used when referring to the God of spirits. Also notice the "REDEEMER" (go'el Hebrew), the Avenger. To understand this better, read & study the book of Ruth (a love story) which will help you also understand Revelation chapter 5 and the Bride of Christ. Cursing Israel will bring her Avenger upon you, instead pray for her, God will do the rest.
