Being spiritually blind is worse in God's eyes than being physically blind, and here God in the flesh uses such to teach a spiritual lesson. How would you describe "color" to a blind man? A similar dilemma, perhaps, how do you teach spiritually dead people about spiritual life? One way is take a blind beggar, make clay using spittle, put it on his eyes then tell him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. Evidently he believed Jesus enough to do it and now? He sees. Faith was the vehicle, NOT the cure, Jesus is the cure, don't confuse the 2. The disciples opened the door, Jesus walked through it, & a blind man received his sight., disciples received a lesson (and us), WIN-WIN situation.
