The "hope" he speaks of is not empty wishing, but has the foundational evidence in the past proving the future. God spoke through His prophets and it came to be, exactly as God said it would, so a believer's hope isn't religious flimsy tossed in the wind. Our hope, like Jesus' second coming ( Gal. 5:5; Eph. 1:18; 4:4; Titus 2:13) or the hope laid up in Heaven (Colossians 1:5) for us, or even Jesus Himself who is a believer's hope (1 Timothy 1:1) in whom we are saved, thus we put on " ...the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation" (1 Thessalonians 5:8b) to protect our minds from the psy-ops of the enemies of the cross & devils who pervert. Therefore, study daily to refresh yourself in the Lord & grow in His Grace & Knowledge of Him who died for us.
