Bought in the poetry section at a used book store. What is it? You can hardly make out the spine of this well-loved edition. An oldie but goodie, it’s The Cantos, by Ezra Pound. This is the edition of 1948, so it includes everything up to Canto LXXXIV (The Pisan Cantos). There was a later edition available, but I can rarely resist hardcover. Am tempted to reprove myself, but I’m sure what I have will be a hard enough read, and not sure when I will get to it. But it is neat that this edition of this award-winning book of poetry was printed while Pound lay imprisoned in a mental hospital for his broadcasts in favor of Fascist Italy. #EzraPound #TheCantos #Fascism #Fascist #politicalprisoners #modernism #poetry #literature #books
