As this Zero Hedge article reports: "Just ahead, intriguingly, of the November elections, the U.S. military has granted itself permission to unleash 'lethal force' on the civilian population in cases of 'national security' emergency." I note that it requires very different mentalities to thwart crimes according to Constitutional due-process-of-law, on one figurative hand, and to wage war through conquest on a battlefield, on the other figurative hand, which is one reason why the U. S. government long maintained a clear distinction between these two functions, and even prohibited the use of soldiers as peace officers---but we Americans in recent decades have allowed that line between crime-fighting and war-waging to become blurry to our detriment. Unilateral coercion (including lethal violence) is generally justified ONLY as a necessary last resort in defense against aggression, so let's please hope-and-pray that such principles are obeyed, including by soldiers on Election Day! https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2024-10-12/us-military-now-authorized-kill-americans-us-soil-new-dod-directive-drops #NationalDefense #DefenseDepartment #USMilitary #PosseComitatus #LocalPolice #NationalSecurity #HomelandSecurity #DHS #CivilUnrest #ElectionDay
