As this Liberty Sentinel article states: "America's sheriffs are key defenders of law and liberty, but face growing threats from political agendas and government overreach nationwide. Now is the time to stand with them." This article retells the true story of how, in 1993, U.S. President Bill Clinton attempted to unconstitutionally commandeer U.S. county sheriffs to enforce unconstitutional gun-control legislation, which motivated Sheriff Richard Mack to successfully oppose this effort in court, as well as to start the ongoing Constitutional sheriffs movement through the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA), which organization seeks to help sheriffs to understand their proper role as chief law-enforcement officers (CLEOs) who should keep their respective oaths-of-office to uphold the U.S. Constitution, including by defying both unconstitutional laws and unlawful orders---and this article also details CSPOA's ongoing string of notable successes, along with various backlashes from corrupt politicians. As I might reiterate... I understand that, in proper political systems, citizens reign as kings or queens ONLY of their own figurative castles (free to love/serve God as their heavenly King as they please) while delegating limited authority to their public officers to expertly help them to defend their equal innate God-given (or natural) rights from others' aggression so that they may remain free---however, in perverted political systems, public officers reign as absolute monarchs over their citizens while delegating limited authority to those citizens to serve state interests. Considering such truths, I feel deeply concerned that some Americans are engaging in ongoing long-term efforts to gradually corrupt America's traditional political system from an instrument of rightful liberty to an instrument of tyranny/slavery. These subverters' targets include America's local police officers, who are traditionally chosen by their neighbors to peacefully "serve and protect" their communities by thwarting criminals in accordance with due-process-of-law, and who ALWAYS enjoy primary jurisdiction, despite how television shows typically indicate otherwise, supported (not subjugated) by state or federal specialists. Such subverters, while hampering local police through counterproductive civilian review boards, have also tried to nationalize such police, dumb-them-down, and militarize them, including by blurring the once-clear distinction between fighting crime and waging war. Such changes would render local police more susceptible to being misused by conspiring aspiring Caesarian politicians as a virtual "standing army" of brute thugs to conquer America from within, treating American citizens like enemy soldiers to be defeated in battle according to the rules-of-war, which may include wantonly brutalizing peaceful citizens for trivial offenses. Such changes would also render our local peace officers more like the national police forces that statist regimes (whether socialist or fascist) almost invariably establish to maintain control of their citizen-slaves. Historically, these corruptive trends originated during the 1960s through unconstitutional federal programs to train local police to counteract civil disorder, then progressed during the 1970s as urban police departments established elite paramilitary police units (like SWAT teams) to alleviate mass riots and hostage situations and such, then escalated further during the 1980s as these SWAT teams were harnessed to serve our unconstitutional federal "war" on drugs, and finally expanded to ludicrous extremes during the 2010s as such militarized police squads began performing routine law-enforcement tasks like serving warrants, arresting unlicensed barbers, disrupting illegal poker games, checking labels, enforcing lawn care, et cetera, sometimes with needlessly-tragic results. Now during the 2020s, as some attempt to defund local police, while others try to nationalize them further, let's please reverse these dangerous long-term statist trends, and instead keep political power as decentralized as possible, especially within individual households.
