Acting and nominated Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel and Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, were among the speakers at the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) in Whitehall on Thursday morning. “Sadly, Ohio is facing some of the most significant fraud schemes in the country,” Blanche said. Blanche said Ohio’s collaboration with federal partners was a prime example for other states to combat fraud. Multiple speakers highlighted the “unprecedented” federal and state collaboration in Ohio, claiming there was significant fraud but that the partnership was productive for combatting it. Speakers announced Ohio will open a state-specific Medicaid Fraud Room to help prevent and locate fraudulent activity. They also announced that Secretary of State Frank LaRose launched a new data sharing program for the federal Fraud Division allowing them to access corporate registrant data. Immediate changes also include the suspension of 49 Medicaid providers in Ohio. Those suspensions will be announced at 1 p.m., and appear to be in addition to 293 provider suspensions in the state since 2017.
