The Russians are the last remaining European people with Indo-European + steppe ancestry who have "passionarmost", a will to lead, a refusal to lose their independence -- unlike Europeans who are in a state of "deep inertia", dominated by feminism, at the end of their history. This is what you learn from Lev Gumilev's theory of ethnos and Eurasianism, which had a great influence on Dugin's ethnosociology. Gumilev spent years in Soviet concentration camp, best known for his concept of "passionarnost", conceptualized while in prison observing inmates surviving in extremely harsh conditions. "Passionarity” refers to the mental and ideological energy that a people-ethnos has at given time, as well as a “capacity for suffering” by a people in the expression of their inner energy and will to lead. Gumilev asked a similar question I asked about the original creators of the West: “Why did Alexander the Great go all the way to India and Central Asia, even though he . . . could not return the spoils from these countries all the way to Macedonia? Suddenly, it occurred to me that something had pushed him, something inside himself. It was revealed to me that the human has a special impulse, called passionarity.” What a contrast between the concept of "ethnos" and the antiseptic concept of "race", so endearing to Americans dissident academics, dressed in white coats, describing things "scientifically," without participating in history, in a state of deep inertia, devoid of ethnic ancestry. Gumilev believed that ethnic self-identification is the most basic element of world history: “a phenomenon so universal as to indicate its deep underlying foundation”. “There is not a single person on earth outside of an ethnos,” he was fond of saying. “Everybody will answer the question, ‘What are you?’ with ‘Russian, ‘French’, ‘Persian’, ‘Maasai’ etc, without a moment’s hesitation.” Europeans, in their state of inertia, lack passionarity, are willing to accept immigration and race mixing, soon to be incapable of ethnic self-identification. They say that Gumilev was an anti-Semite for saying that Jewish culture was by nature mercantile and existed outside and in opposition to the people where they resided. Wiki says that, according to Gumilyov, the medieval Jews also did not bear arms themselves, but waged wars by proxies -- witness this today in Ukraine. The Financial Times, of all places, has a revealing article about Gumilev from 2016, with details about his personal life: https://www.ft.com/content/ede1e5c6-e0c5-11e5-8d9b-e88a2a889797
