This is why just like the USA, the "reserve trap" exists, the moment you hate living on the shitty "rez" with all the violence, drugs & crazy shit (seriously listen to RCMP radios on reserve drama, that was a daily entertainment in the patch back in the day) an decide to LEAVE, instantly you lose near $20K a year "free money", an it's not the gov money, Oh no no no, you see ANYTHING that extracts resources on Reserve land, from lumber, fish, hunting, oil, gas, minerals, etc, etc etc. All that has get's a share handed over to the RESERVE...............controlled by corrupt native Chiefs who STEAL MOST OF IT an hand it out to their "power base" of corrupt evil loyalists. An of course that's the ENDLESS STORIES of corruption an theft you see an hear in the news constantly, or just posted online cause man it's not even half of what is caught, just proven in court. So that's around on average another $15K a year in resource revenue, now that's $35 to 40K a year FREE MONEY.................but they don't get it of course, magically it gets sucked up by "BS", theft & graft. So now it's that $20K a year, but because of inflation most of that gets eaten up by Food, Fuel & trying to fix broken shit all the time cause the reserves are hell holes. An that's not when it goes to drugs & booze. So some reserves should be living in "gated mansions" an should be walking on paved streets everywhere, with street lights on every corner, an look like a booming oil town with a full size hospital, etc, etc NOPE, instead it's a bunch of busted up shitbox houses falling apart, old vehicles scattered everywhere, a GIANT school & community center run by the gov, an a massive police station to deal with all the crazy shit. The majority of prisoners, drug dealers an sex traffickers (before East Indians & Muslims took over), were NATIVE's. Yep, an the loudest "native & proud, fuck white people" types, were dealing poison to their own community.
