#Massachusetts: Man, 21, dies after falling into quarry A 21-year-old man died early Saturday morning after falling into a quarry in Westford, Massachusetts, the town's police department announced. Westford police and fire responded to Merrill's Quarry, just off Tyngsboro Road, after a caller reported seeing a man fall into the body of water. The caller said they could no longer see the victim in the water. Police later found the man face down in the water. He was taken to Lowell General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Westford police say the victim died from injuries sustained in the fall and from being in the water for an extended period of time. The victim's identity has not been released. Experts recommend wearing a helmet and life jacket when swimming at a quarry, and, "Never jump into water from a height if you do not know how deep the water is. What is it with all these drunks breaking their necks?"
