#Massachusetts: 81yo Swimmer - Woman dies after being pulled into water at Cape Cod beach At about 3 p.m. Friday, rescue personnel responded to Herring Cove in Provincetown after receiving a report of three people in distress, possibly due to a rip current, according to a statement from Town Manager Alex Morse. The three swimmers were recovered, including a woman who was found by the U.S. Coast Guard floating in the water. She was identified as Nancy Gear, an 81-year-old woman from New York, according to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office. Gear was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where she later died. The other two swimmers were in stable condition, according to Morse.
