The following is a summary of a proposed Encrypted Vote Tracking System to track and validate voting ballots within the United States at the Federal and State level. Comments are welcome. Encrypted Vote Tracking System© The Encrypted Vote Tracking System© provides for a secure unadulterated voting system that is traceable from voter registration to voter tabulation. The encrypted methods provide a tamper proof flow of voter data. The encryption key is a unique number derived from data about the voter and applied to a secret unlock key thus prohibiting forgeries and duplication. All systems, processes and equipment are documented and monitored by United States Federal authorities and are subject to performance inspections and acceptance criteria. The equipment includes vote capturing ballot machines, the federal printing office, the USPS mail handling system and centralized U.S. computer data base systems for retention of voting results. Brief summary of the EVTS process. - Every US state voting district processes their voter registration data into encrypted electronic form. - The voter registration files are sent to a centralized US owned computer system. - Each registered voter is assigned an encryption key value. - The voter registration data is cross checked with the USPS system for address accuracy. - The voter registration data is cross checked for death records at the address. - Prior to voting day, all checked registrations are time stamped and sent to the Federal printing office for ballot printing with the encryption key. - Voters fill out their EVTS voter sheet and return them into polling stations where the vote is time stamped and registered to the centralized computer system. - Vote ballots must be registered into the centralized data base before the end of voting day. - The centralized data base post processes in real time all EVTS ballots for error rejection. - Confirmation email or postal mail of each vote is sent to the voter as a receipt. - Tally votes are only made available to pre approved Federal and State officials as well as results are made public via secured web site read only access.
