Some of their strange beliefs - Pre-mortal Existence and Plan of Salvation: Humans are eternal spirits who lived with Heavenly Father before birth, participated in a "war in heaven," and "chose" to come to earth for progression, part of a broader plan involving agency, mortality as a test, and potential eternal progression toward exaltation (becoming more like God). This includes the idea that faithful members can become joint-heirs with Christ and, in some sense, participate in divine roles or create worlds. ...as stated above, become a God themselves..... Additional Scriptures and Continuing Revelation: Beyond the Bible, the church accepts the Book of Mormon (an ancient record of peoples in the Americas who knew of Christ), Doctrine and Covenants (modern revelations), and Pearl of Great Price. Modern prophets and apostles continue to receive revelation. ...basically, just make up your own extra books of the bible.... The Mormon church/cult has changed some of its original doctrine and practices to help make it look not as strange, basically, do what Smith did and just make up your own religion. Joseph Smith faced approximately 21 documented criminal cases as a defendant and between 1819 and 1844, his participation in roughly 200 legal cases in various capacities—as plaintiff, defendant, witness, or judge—across New York, Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois.
