—MEXICO, ONE DAY BEFORE THE WORLD CUP: BETWEEN CELEBRATION, CHAOS, AND OPEN WOUNDS— (PART 1) ⚽ 🇲🇽 Just 24 hours before the kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, #Mexico presents itself to the world with a contradictory image: on one hand, the preparations for a global sporting celebration, venues ready to host the tournament, and mounting international excitement; on the other, a social, security, and economic reality that is erupting in the streets precisely where the world's attention is about to focus. The metal barricades surrounding #EstadioAzteca (currently branded as Banorte Stadium due to sponsorship rights) and key areas of the city are not merely security measures—they have also become symbols of a deep divide between the official image being projected and the reality Mexicans experience every day. WHAT THE GOVERNMENT IS DOING: CONCEALING REALITY AND PRIORITIZING IMAGE The government has focused its efforts on presenting a country that appears "clean, orderly, and prosperous," while concealing everything that does not fit that narrative, including measures aimed at physically erasing visible evidence of inequality. 🤦🏼♂️ Concealment Of Low-Income Housing Along major avenues, stadium access routes, tourist corridors, and areas through which teams and visitors will travel, large banners, billboards, official signage, and temporary walls have been installed to completely hide the poorest homes, marginalized neighborhoods, informal settlements, and areas of substandard housing. These structures—often decorated with landscapes, national symbols, or welcoming messages—serve a single purpose: preventing tourists from seeing the harsh reality of poverty that coexists with the sporting celebration, as if these families and their homes were not part of the country being showcased to the world. 🤦🏼♂️ Forced Removal Of Street Vendors And Homeless Individuals In tourist districts, around Estadio Azteca, Paseo de la Reforma, the Historic Center, and major thoroughfares, more than 4,500 informal vendors, homeless individuals, and people who depend on public spaces for their livelihood have reportedly been removed without meaningful relocation plans or alternative means of support. The explicit objective: to erase poverty, homelessness, and everyday reality from the sight of foreign visitors, as though they did not exist. Many have been left without income, forced to move to distant areas or survive out of public view. 🤦🏼♂️ Labor Exploitation In Construction And Services Thousands of workers—including migrants—have reportedly been employed on #WorldCup-related projects under illegal or precarious conditions: without contracts, social security coverage, or employment benefits; working shifts of up to 12 hours a day for wages ranging between USD 10.32 and USD 14.34 per day, amounts insufficient to cover basic living expenses. Many have been required to work under intense deadlines, including on public holidays, and some have reportedly slept on the streets or in inadequate accommodations while authorities and private contractors benefit from their labor with little accountability. 🤦🏼♂️ Soaring Prices: Exploitation And Exclusion Virtually everything has become unaffordable for many Mexicans and excessively expensive for visitors: 🔸 Tickets: Starting at USD 1,892.52 for the opening match and exceeding USD 17,200.85 in premium sections—equivalent to months or even years of income for much of the population, far from the accessibility seen during the 1986 World Cup. 🔸 Inside And Outside Stadiums: Plain water priced at USD 4.59, mineral water at USD 11.47, soft drinks at USD 8.60, beers at USD 17.20, chips at USD 11.47, and basic meals ranging from USD 17.20 to USD 34.40. 🔸 Hotels: Price increases ranging from 300% to as much as 2,300% in areas near Estadio Azteca; rooms that once cost USD 86.01 now reach USD 229.35 or more per night. 🔸 Restaurants And Services: Prices have doubled or tripled under the assumption that foreign visitors are "walking ATMs" who can be charged virtually any amount, regardless of whether it amounts to price gouging or deception. #AMLO #CDMX #FIFA #Morena #Zionism #Communism #Sheinbaum #ThirdWorld #NorthAmerica #WithJewsWeLose #MundialDeFútbol #ClaudiaSheinbaum #FIFAWorldCup #CopaMundialFIFA #FIFAWorldCup2026 #CopaMundialDeFútbol #CopaMundialDeFútbol2026 #CopaMundialDeLaFIFA2026
