*** I'd like to know what's ahead for South 14th Street, the block south our Missouri Avenue (aka L Street) in south Omaha. It's looking rather dreary. Could use a spruce up? #Omaha #SouthOmaha #DoIt ___ Sorry, I apologize if it's none of my business as a person who has lived in south Omaha for almost 25 years. But was reminded recently of the time I heard my Grandpa saying - months after he had died - "Don't let them make you be someone you're not." And that's NOT how my brain would have worded that. Also I didn't know my grandpa would have worded it that way but Mom said that's exactly how he thought. He felt he was a cut above everybody else and that's one reason all his stuff was monogramed, back in the day. As a kid I thought all grandpas had monogramed stuff. So Alfred E. Newman (cover star of Mad Magazine) would have everything of his with AEN on it. Cufflinks, handkerchiefs, key ring, everything. So I'm trying NOT to be stuffed into any other someone. I'm impatient. And super-patient, too. It depends. We probably all are. Just be you. And somebody come help us perk up South 14th Street. ALSO one side effect of encouraging everybody to have more & more babies is the neighborhood kids don't have adequate & safe playground areas yet. Make it happen, please. They deserve better.
