Israeli-sourced documents appear to show years of contact between Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, but they also undermine the claim that 7 October was a jointly coordinated operation planned with prior operational knowledge by Tehran and Hezbollah. If Sinwar had to apologise to Nasrallah after the attack began for not informing him in advance, then the central Israeli narrative begins to collapse. That narrative was never innocent. It served a political function, to justify the genocide in Gaza, to internationalise the war, to drag Iran into the frame, and to legitimise the devastation and invasion of southern Lebanon.
