Early life, family and education. Lightfoot was born in Orillia, Ontario, on November 17, 1938, to Jessie Vick Trill Lightfoot and Gordon Lightfoot Sr., who owned a local dry cleaning business. He was of Scottish descent. He had an older sister, Beverley (1935–2017).  [source: Google] I often used to Vacation up around the Orillia area in the 80's and 90's - on Sparrow Lake to be exact. So, yes, very well familiar with ORILLIA's native Son - they are Proud of him, as they should be. We, here in Detroit Michigan USA, do still hold remembrances at MARINER CHURCH Downtown Detroit yearly.
