A 42-year-old man, Santos Guerrero, admitted to shooting and killing a bald eagle at his home in Porter, Texas, in 2024, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney John G.E. Marck. Guerrero pleaded guilty to causing the death of a protected species after authorities found video footage of the incident. Although the eagle was taken to a vet, it had to be euthanized due to severe injuries, including damaged wings, liver fractures, internal bleeding, and a fractured leg.
