Australian police plan to form a heavily armed rapid response team following the Bondi Beach massacre, where gunmen killed 15 and wounded three police officers during a Sydney Hanukkah celebration in December. Deputy Commissioner David Hudson, while testifying before the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion, noted a dangerous firepower imbalance, as police were only armed with handguns against the gunmen's shotguns and hunting rifles.
