Multiple reports from last month indicated that GOP senators approved of Donald Trump's impeachment trial as a way to effectively #blackmail the president into not pardoning Julian Assange. As Tucker Carlson reported, Mitch McConnell "sent word over to the White House: 'if you pardon Julian Assange, we are much more likely to convict you in an impeachment trial.'"
