Democrats don't have the Midas Touch; they have the toxic lead touch. Prove me wrong! In this case, Andrew Sullivan is discussing the utterly misplaced priorities of the Omaha Habitat for Humanity. Apparently, they're building super-spacious 3-bedroom homes with insanely expensive electrical wiring (because Omaha Habitat for Humanity never even bothered to contest a new and completely outrageous building code update) and... ports for charging electric vehicles. Somebody please help me understand: who is Omaha Habitat for Humanity REALLY building these homes for? Are poor people who "can't afford to buy homes" even going to be able tolive in these newly constructed monstrosities? Also, what is this actually doing to the real estate market in relation to what should be affordable housing? Is it driving the cost down--or ratcheting it up?
