@Heartiste The history of civilization is the history of those at the top of the heap inventing ways to stay there. Credentalism is the illusion of meritocracy while underneath the surface all the important positions still go to those from the 'in' group, and that 'in' group gets its kids into Harvard/Yale on pedigree not merit. Only the odd Billy Boy Clinton who is an obvious sociopath gets to join the ranks. Credentialism is also the glue that binds the 'progressive' ideology. America is witnessing the end of democracy live because the credentialists have internalized the chosenite idea that they are a better form of humanity and entitled to rule over the rest of us - so fixing elections has become legitimate in their eyes. That's the reason civil war will happen. You can't reason with credentialed mediocrities who want to protect their power and prestige at your expense.
