The magnificent Himalayan peak known as Ama Dablam in Nepal reaches towards the heavens at 22,349 feet. Although it has been surrounded by 10s of millions of non-Whites for countless centuries, none of them thought to climb it. That heroic task was finally achieved in 1961, when it was scaled for the first time by White men Mike Gill (NZ), Barry Bishop (US), Mike Ward (UK) and Wally Romanes (NZ).
