🚨 #NVIC ACTION ALERT: Everyone needs to call #Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry at (225) 342-0991 and ask him to #VetoHB775‼️ Let him know that while the bill was promoted as protecting parental rights, there is a loophole where it allows a healthcare provider to assume, without any liability, parental consent to vaccinate a child based on an unverified claim by a temporary custodian or caregiver. That could be a babysitter, a grandparent, or a camp counselor merely claiming to a provider that parents consent to vaccination, and no verification on the part of the provider is required! A misrepresentation of consent could be devastating to a child who has had a previous vaccine reaction. HB 775 provides a state sanctioned loophole for a child to be vaccinated without parental consent at the direction of a temporary custodian or caregiver who disagrees with a parent’s choice to not vaccinate their child. The burden should remain on the healthcare provider, healthcare facility, hospital, physician, nurse, emergency medical services provider, or other person licensed or authorized to provide vaccines to conclusively verify parental consent to vaccination.
