Theory: this is a last line-of-defense/information containment strategy by the deep state. If things get so bad regarding exposure and the like, the only real option left is for them to shut down all communications. The "easiest" way to do that without incurring guilt is to blame it on a natural phenomenon, like an electromagnetic storm from the sun. This tells me they may just be expecting something damning to come out soon, and that they're ready to roll with this.
