You know, I have a real issue with how many vegans have hitched their wagon to liberal politics. For over 20 years, a loud chunk of the vegan community has acted like supporting "women's rights," gay rights, cultural Marxism, or other #progressive causes is the same as animal rights. The message has convinced a lot of people that veganism isn't just about animals — it's about pushing a whole bundle of #liberal ideas that many view as unrelated or even immoral. No wonder folks on the right are closed off to #veganism, or outright hostile to it. The backlash is on liberal vegans for tying the two together so tightly, and I am disgusted with that. All the fault is on their end for pushing people away. #Vegan liberals have also fed the narrative that veganism means elevating animals to the exact same social status as humans (like in some Hindu religious beliefs). That's not it at all. Veganism is about being aware that animals have the same capacity to suffer and feel pain as we do, and doing what you can to stop contributing to that suffering — nothing more, nothing less. Don't bundle animal rights activism with social liberal activism. Don't conflate the two. They are separate issues. To those of you who are national socialists, I like to remind you that #Hitler was a vegetarian and an animal rights activist, and he probably would have been completely vegan if he was still alive today. Just something to think about.
