Nate Silver Pinpoints DSA’s Core Voter: Postgrads Making $30K to $60K. The rise of democratic socialism inside the Democratic Party is often sold as a working-class revolt. The pitch is simple. These candidates say they are speaking for ordinary Americans who feel squeezed, ignored, and left behind. Silver looked at Democratic voting strength with a focus on the voters most aligned with Democratic Socialists of America-style politics. His interest came after DSA-backed candidates, including Graham Platner and Abdul El-Sayed, argued that their campaigns were powered by regular working-class voters.
