America To Triple Massive Missile Production Surge Kagan Dunlap Aug 4, 2026 The multi-year effort includes agreements with Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman aimed at expanding America’s missile defense industrial base and replenishing critical interceptor stockpiles. Under the initiative, annual production capacity for Patriot PAC-3 MSE interceptors is planned to increase from roughly 600 to approximately 2,000 missiles per year, while THAAD interceptor production is expected to grow from around 96 to about 400 annually. Northrop Grumman also announced new framework agreements worth more than $3 billion to expand production of critical missile components, including solid rocket motors, ignition systems, and structural assemblies. The move is designed to strengthen the U.S. supply chain, reduce production bottlenecks, and support long-term manufacturing growth. The expansion comes as demand for advanced missile defense systems has increased following sustained military operations and continued support for U.S. allies. Defense officials say the long-term agreements are intended to accelerate production, improve readiness, and ensure the United States can replenish interceptor inventories more quickly in the years ahead.
