Saturday July 18, 2026 🗓️ The Truth About the "Clouds" and His Return #1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 By the word of the Lord, we tell you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. The Truth: The subject here is the Second Advent. When Christ returns, those who are already dead come with Him because they are already there in heaven. We who are alive cannot precede them. False teachers use "fairy tales" to cover the truth, telling people they will "fly away" in a rapture. But God warns fiercely against those who teach His people to "fly" to save their souls (Ezekiel 13). The gospel armour protects us to stand and fight on Earth; it doesn't give us a jetpack to leave! Paul used Greek figures of speech. "Clouds" means a large group or a cloud of witnesses (Hebrews 12:1). "Air" (aer) means the breath of life or the spiritual body, not the sky. We aren't flying away. We are changed into our spiritual, immortal bodies right here on Earth at the 7th and final trumpet (1 Corinthians 15:51-52) to enter the Millennium. Comfort one another with this truth: we are staying here to work and establish His kingdom on Earth! Reflection: Deception tells us we will escape the battle. God's Word tells us to put on our armour, stand firm, and wait for the total transformation at the final trumpet when Christ returns to Earth.
