🔥 BURNED ALIVE FOR CHRIST — BUT HIS FAITH COULD NOT BE BROKEN. Today we remember St. Lawrence of Rome, one of the Church’s most courageous martyrs. When Roman authorities demanded the treasures of the Church, Lawrence gathered the poor, the widows, the orphans, and the suffering and presented them as the Church’s true treasures. For his defiance and unwavering faith, he was condemned to a horrific death upon a burning gridiron. Yet even in the midst of his torment, St. Lawrence remained so peaceful that he famously told his persecutors: “Turn me over, for I am done on this side.” 🔥 What gives a man that kind of courage? Total surrender to Jesus Christ. God does not always give us what makes us comfortable.
