Doctoring Degrees My wife and I were talking about the Dr. "Pepper" Jill Biden, Ed.D., affair this morning, specifically the laughable and error-filled thesis she turned in to get her degree. She's followed the story with interest, being a physician with a MUDr degree (Medicinae Universalis Doctor - Doctor of Universal Medicine) from Charles University in Prague. She mentioned that back in the day there was a special school of Marxism-Leninism in Prague - the Political College of the Central Committee - and the functionaries of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) who completed their studies there (or not!) had conferred upon them the title of RSDr (Rerum Socialium Doctor - Of Things Social Doctor). It was every bit as fake as some of the dubious degrees that are being cranked out by universities across the country. The funny thing, though, is that most Czechs couldn't recall what RSDr really stood for. As a testament to the Czech sense of humor, most called the degree: Rozhodnutí Strany Doktor - "Awarded by the (Communist) Party Doctor"
