We have a rescue cat whose tail was damaged, and she cannot hold it high, which makes me realize just how much our feline friends express themselves through that tail. They swish it back and forth; they carry it like a flag, lightly tilted to the side; they're very, and justifiably, proud of it. The cat in this painting, which I call, The Cat Walks Alone, is very much aware of, proud of, and delighting in, its tail. It gives it joy.
