We were on our way to visit a friend in the Idaho mountains: "I live in a fairly rural area," she told us, which wound up being a sterling understatement. The road narrowed and twisted, going on and on, on and on, while we kept checking and rechecking the directions. "It's not that hard to find," she'd told us. "But it is a ways in." And indeed it was. The good news is not only that we found our friend's place, but on the way, we enjoyed some magnificent scenery. And we thought WE lived out in the country!
