Months of Planning. One Very Good Day in Spartanburg. On June 30, I helped bring together the government and community stakeholders who joined BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC for our Home of X event: the world premiere of the all-new BMW X5 and the celebration of a completed $1.7 billion investment in South Carolina. Coordinating a day that welcomed SC Governor Henry McMaster, Senator Lindsey Graham, Secretary of Commerce Harry Lightsey, consular and diplomatic representatives, and state and local officials alongside BMW AG Chairman Milan Nedeljković was no small lift. Worth every late night and long phone call. The relationships behind that guest list are the reason this partnership has worked well for more than 30 years, producing over 7.3 million vehicles in South Carolina and making BMW the leading U.S. automotive exporter by value. More than 120,000 American jobs trace back to it. Plant Woodruff is complete. The first fully electric BMW built in the U.S. will roll off the line later this year. The next chapter gets written here too! Thank you to the colleagues, officials, and partners who made it happen, from Munich to New Jersey to right here in South Carolina. Proud to work in the Upstate, the Home of X. Special shoutout to Czarnowski Collective & Peppercomm, a Ruder Finn Group company for all the amazing work pulling this together. #HomeOfX #BMWintheUS #SouthCarolina #CommunityPartnership
