Seventy five million taxpayer dollars for convention security. Or, hear us out, two signs and a roll of tape. If a "Gun Free Zone" placard is really enough to keep a building safe, then it is enough for the convention hall too. Print them. Hang them. Save the taxpayer the whole seventy five million. But notice what they actually bought instead. Armored vehicles. Snipers. Watchtowers. K-9 units. Metal detectors. Officers with rifles. Because deep down they know the sign was never the plan. They know exactly what stops a threat. They buy it for themselves every single time. They just do not think you should have it for your kids. A fortress for them. A laminated sign for a third grade classroom. We are not asking them to give up their security. Keep it. We are asking for one ounce of consistency. If the sign works, use the sign. If it does not, stop pretending it protects our children. Drop a comment.
