NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope Arrives Home In Space About a month after the publication of the Christmas morning, NASA's James Webb Space telescope has reached its final destination in space, 1 million miles from the earth. Unlike the Hubble Space Telescope, which orbits Earth about 300 miles above the planet, Webb will orbit the Sun in line with Earth as it orbits the Sun. This allows the $10 billion telescope to operate 24 hours a day in direct contact with Earth.
