One other thing from Japan to Good Americans. There is NO cultural appropriation thing in Japan. We love to see non J people wearing Kimonos, eating & cooking J food. Anyone can do anime cosplay as she/he wants. -Intercultural borrowing and cultural interactions are common in this world/history, actually they have been the drive to develop our modern culture. -Misunderstanding and misinterpretation are also common, you don't need to "understand" the essence of the culture.... who understand the essence of culture anyway? Obviously not me. -As far as it's not intentional contempt or fake, it should be "anything goes" e.g. American localized sushi is fine, some of them don't look like sushi to me but I know there are good ones, too. Non J sushi chefs are also fine, we have many J chefs cooking non J foods, just the same thing. Meanwhile I feel uncomfortable with non J Asian sushi chefs without any experience pretending authentic sushi masters and serving terrible ones😜
