July 18, 1863: After receiving the news of an imminent Union attack from Molly Tynes, Confederate soldiers and local citizens together battled Union soldiers during the Union Raid on Wytheville, #Virginia. Although a tactical victory, the Union force failed to achieve any of its objectives of cutting rail & telegraph lines or destroying the lead and/or salt mines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wytheville_Raid
