In the White South African male population the % of Y-DNA R1b was very high. A significant high % of Boers and South African white English speaking men tested as R1b (Indo-European, Porto-Germanic, Germanic, Celtic , Slavic branch) (51.6% out of a sample size of 81 taken from one area and from specific groups such as 1820 settlers' descendants and the Huguenots etc. Also from German and Dutch types. A high % (6.4%) of the white men tested positive for R1a1-M198 and descendant subclades out of a sample of 10 from one area or s[specific surname groups = A large % 17.8% of a sample of 28 White South African men turned out to have the paternal line I-M170 .
