Thousands of Indigenous women marched through La Paz, Bolivia on Mother’s Day, demanding the resignation of President Rodrigo Paz as nationwide protests intensified. Protesters accused Paz’s government of betraying promises, worsening economic hardship, and responding harshly to demonstrations. Women carrying Wiphala flags, banging pots, and shouting anti-government slogans filled the streets with Illimani Mountain visible in the background. The protests come amid rising living costs, fuel shortages, food and medicine supply disruptions, and growing anger over austerity measures. Protesters claimed the government ignored the people who voted for it, while Paz defended spending cuts and fuel subsidy reductions as necessary to stabilize Bolivia’s struggling economy.
