After studies in Kiev, he joined the Jesuits and was ordained in Krakow in 1881. Assigned to Tarnopol and Chyrow, he taught languages 👨‍🏫 💱 to students and served in the infirmary 👨‍⚕️ . For many years, he harbored a desire to go among lepers.
