The first day at the Black Hills Paint-Out was windy, rainy, and cold! I've painted in the wind, I've painted in the rain, and I've painted in the cold, but this was my first time painting in all three at once! The wind took my umbrella (which was tied to my easel - which was weighted down with my plein air backpack) and blew everything over just as a couple tourists were approaching me to watch me work...lol. My painting and palette landed face down in the grass, and all my Gamsol spilled out. I managed to finish the painting anyway, but I had to take the umbrella down and let the rain fall on my painting and palette. If you look closely at this photo, which was taken on site, you'll see little beads of water on the surface. They eventually dried without making any marks.
