I avoid using the Opaque Kingdom (China) as an example of anything, but in this case it is worth exploring the idea that China runs something akin to a part-socialism, part-capitalism system, by allowing a free market private economy to flourish, but setting guardrails around it with big public works projects and rules prohibiting wealthy capitalists from having any say in Chinese politics or policymaking.
