It's good to visualize the geographical origin of many of the groups we discuss. Geography and group attributes are strongly associated through the process of evolution. The Quakers originate predominately from the English Highlands. Mountain people tend to be more clannish (ethnocentric) than lowland peoples, yet the Quakers very early on developed a pacifist ideology that seems to contradict accepted theories of ethnocentric group psychology research.
