There does appear to be a loose parallel between jewish and Quaker histories. Both groups were (rationally) discriminated against in many economic and cultural sectors. They responded to the discrimination by pouring into the occupational fields which were still open to them: banking and industry. The wealth each group nepotistically accrued from those endeavors allowed them to more effectively subvert the surrounding society.
